Janet Lillian Russell, contemporary folk/blues singer and songwriter
formerly of Vancouver's Lingo Sisters, was chosen by the Foundation
to Assist Canadian Talent On Record (F.A.C.T.O.R.)
as one of the 1998 recipients of their Independent Artists Recording Loan.
These loans, which offer independent artists the chance to to record their
first CD projects for public release, are highly sought after and not easily
won, as applications are subjected to a rigorous screening process.
Fans of the original music scene in Vancouver, Canada, have been following Russell's career for years, watching as she ignites audiences with her powerful voice, soaring melodies and earthy, witty and wise lyrics. Thanks to the FACTOR program, she is now able to bring her songs to Canada and the international public on her first independent CD Release. |
 Janet's album project, entitled "ALL I HAVE," attracted the attention of stellar record producer and piano man Richard Bell, currently a member of supergroup "The Band," whose career in music performance and production spans over three decades of internationally famous recording acts, including Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Butterfield,Bruce Cockburn and Colin James. Richard brought in a few good friends, including Gary Craig on drums (Anne Murray, Jann Arden), Bazil Donovan on bass (Blue Rodeo) and Sony/Columbia/True North recording artist Colin Linden on guitar, and of course Richard appears on keyboards. The participation of these world-class recording artists, and Bell's enthusiasm and skill as producer, have given Janet's songs the powerful, compelling sound they deserve. |
